Newsle Acquired by LinkedIn

A while back we wrote a blog post about Newsle, the platform that alerts you to the latest news about your social media connections. This handy-dandy platform creates a great opportunity to stay on top of all the news regarding your business networking connections without spending a ton of time researching each one individually, and especially when Newsle is connected to LinkedIn.
Just this week LinkedIn announced that the company will be making it even easier for you to keep up to date with any news or mentions of your professional colleagues and friends through its acquisition of Newsle. As reported by Upstart Business Journal, “Newsle’s founders, Axel Hansen and Jonah Varon and its four-person engineering team will be joining LinkedIn.”
Though owned by the professional networking platform, Newsle will still operate as a standalone service. Assuming LinkedIn chooses to keep Newsle intact and functional instead of shutting it down as they eventually did with earlier acquisition Card Munch, Newsle will still be available to further enhance your insight into everything that’s happening in your social and professional networks and save you some time in the process.
We are interested in seeing how the acquisition will help make networking even more efficient. What’s your best guess as to the outcome: will LinkedIn keep Newsle up and running as a complement to the networking giant and if so, will it help you keep up with all of your Joneses? Please let us know what you think!
I hope they keep it as a stand alone service. I have found the alerts on what is happening with people in my network very valuable.
