Please Donate to Help Victims of Hurricane Sandy
By bbr
We are going to veer off the marketing path today and point-blank ask for donations to help victims of Hurricane Sandy. No superfluous writing, just please donate money.
There are multiple options available including:
Red Cross: Donate money online via the Red Cross website’s Hurricane Sandy page or contact your local Red Cross office to see if there are volunteer opportunities available for assisting in relief efforts.
Humane Society: The HSUS is assisting families with pets who have been displaced or separated. Donate to their efforts via the Humane Society’s Hurricane Sandy relief page.
Goodwill: The Goodwill is also accepting monetary donations online. Only the locations closest to the hard hit areas are accepting physical donations and volunteers.
You Give Goods/Salvation Army: The Salvation Army of New Jersey has teamed up with YouGiveGoods.com to create a Hurricane Sandy Hunger Relief Drive, where you can donate pounds of food.
Local volunteers: For those who live closer to the devastated areas, NJ.com has put together a list of groups and organizations that need help and volunteers to help with the recovery.
As with any disaster, there are always some criminals out there that want to scam those whose hearts are in the right place. The Wall Street Journal has put together some suggestions for avoiding charity scams so that your money and aid goes to those who truly need it.
By no means is this intended to be a complete list, and we welcome the addition of other organizations in the comments below. To those who’ve been hardest hit, our thoughts are with you and we wish you and your communities a speedy recovery. To those who donate, we thank you for your kindness.
